Repair Corrupt Registry by Eliminating
Errors
An
important function of the registry is to inform the operating system of where to find
programs on your hard drive, also what programs should be used when opening files. Invariably, corrupt registry lead to further computer problems and over time
the systems can become unusable. Slow computers may well have a corrupt registry, and therefore a sudden deterioration in computer
performance may points to the need to repair a corrupt registry. Any corrupt registry leads to difficulty with even simple tasks like
writing documents or checking e-mails. In the most severe cases, computers
with a corrupt registry may crash outright and become practically unusable until their registry is
fixed.

System Restore
- Microsoft has released many software tools to help
fix the computer registry over the years. The most widely used is the System Restore facility which comes
free with Windows. This program helps fix the computer registry by reinstating it back to a former state
(i.e. as it was at a pre-determined date and time). System Restore uses a date and time reference ranging
from a few minutes in the past, to the date when Windows was first installed on the computer. There is
however a major disadvantage in using System Restore, which is that any changes made between restore points
will be undone. In practice this means that you will lose computer files, for example work you may have done,
pictures or software stored on the computer. This is very undesirable for most users. Fortunately, the system
restore can also be undone. Undoing it will bring the computer back to its most recent system restore point,
but then of course you will still be left with a Corrupt registry that needs repairing.

Repair your
Corrupt Registry Using a Manual Method? - Safeguarding and preventing the integrity of your computer
require that you repair your computer registry. It may be tempting to use a manual
method and knowledgeable users may consider the possibility to access the registry directly in order to
fix errors. We do not recommend this method. This method is highly unreliable for most users and highly time
consuming. Errors are often difficult to find using manual enquiries. These errors tend to occur once a
particular program triggers a particular area in the registry, often causing the computer to crash.
Recreating the original conditions that created the error is virtually impossible.
Repair your Corrupt Registry with Software - Registry repair software are more
reliable than manual intervention, they also enable quicker resolution to the problems by simplifying the
whole process. For these reasons they are usually a superior alternative to using the manual or system
restore method. There is a good choice of proven tools on the market (see also Compare registry fix software). Another
advantage of using software to fix the computer registry rather than system restore, is that using registry
repair software should not lead to a loss of files. Registry repair software work differently to any system
restore program. Their main task is to scan the computer registry for errors, then compare the computer
registry to an extensive database, identify precisely what needs to be repaired, like invalid file
associations and obsolete paths, then repair the registry accordingly
